Kapok Dubbing is the ultimate in dry fly dubbing. Known for it's high buoyancy, it is known as the "life jacket for flies". Kapok Dubbing is a natural hollow fiber that, when dubbed, retains its buoyancy and will help your dry flies float better than any other dubbing on the market. It is half the thickness of superfine dubbing and is ideal for tiny dry flies as well as nymphs. It provides the perfect profile on small flies, unlike traditional dubbings that add too much bulk on smaller hooks. Kapok Dubbing is available in a wide range of natural colors and has proven to be one of the best dry fly dubbings on the market. We love this stuff!

What is Kapok?

Kapok (Ceiba pentandra) is a natural fiber that has been grown throughout the tropics. It is a moisture-resistant, quick drying, resilient, and buoyant fiber that weighs only 1/8 as much as cotton. Kapok has historically been used in life jackets and life boats, supporting as much as 30 times its own weight in water. Traditionally Kapok is very difficult to dye, however the team at Semperfli has been working with computer-based dying machinery which has enabled it to bulk dye with repeatable colors every time. With Kapok, buoyancy is lost at an extremely slow rate.

Semper fly dubbing

Really like the nee semperfly dubbing. Works great when making small bug bodies. Makes a real tight and neat dubbed body.
