Danville Flymaster Plus Thread (210 Denier)

DFPE10

Danville

Danville Flymaster Plus is an excellent heavy-duty fly tying thread. This 210 denier version is waxed, lies flat, and is roughly equivalent to a 3/0 thread. It is highly abrasion resistant and makes an excellent thread for spinning deer hair and tying large jig and saltwater flies. Extremely popular and available in an assortment of beautifully vivid colors.

My favorite fly tying thread over the years

This is the predominant thread I have used over my thirty years of tying. It is the perfect denier combining strength with minimal buildup. If you let the bobbin hang and spin it, you can untwist it to lay a completely smooth layer of thread. Also, by doing that, you can simply split the thread, insert some dubbing or ram's wool, twist back up and dub a nice bug body or wool head minnow. It is the only thread I use for my bass and saltwater flies and when I'm to lazy to change over to 6/0 thread for bream bugs, I don't hesitate to continue using the Plus. It is strong enough to cinch down mylar tubing on a 3/0 hook yet lays flat enough to tie a size 12 Hare's Ear.

Awesome Thread!

This is my preferred thread for tying saltwater flies. The thread is strong and lies flat -- helps in making great shaped heads. The color selection includes all of the necessary ones and some new colors that I am going to try. Awesome thread by Danville!
